WELCOME TO SORELLA DELLA VOLPE IN COSTIGLIOLE D’ASTI
Perched on a hilltop with commanding views of the Langhe Valley and beyond, Sorella della Volpe (The Sister of the Fox) offers an exquisite escape in the heart of the Piemonte wine region. This villa is a new addition to our collection and is rented independently from Casa della Volpe (The Fox House), our original property.
The villas face each other across the valley, just a couple of kilometers apart. With both properties in close proximity, they can be rented together for larger family gatherings, team-building events, or group getaways, offering more space and versatility. The two properties are a 20-minute walk apart through vineyards, hazelnut, and olive orchards or a 3-minute car ride.

ABOUT THE VILLA
Sorella della Volpe is a classic Piedmont-style villa from the 1800s, completely renovated in the winter and spring of 2024. The renovation has modernised the villa to the highest standards while preserving its original charm, such as brick-vaulted ceilings and half-meter-thick walls. The villa offers the perfect blend of historic character and contemporary comfort.
Located on the edge of Monferrato in the town of Costigliole d’Asti, Sorella della Volpe overlooks the rolling hills of the Langhe Valley and Roero. From the house, you can see rows of vineyards, olive orchards, and nut trees crisscrossing the landscape. The valley is dotted with castles and framed by the Alps of Switzerland, France, and Italy on the horizon. The villa is conveniently situated between the town centres of Costigliole and Castagnole.

SORELLA DELLA VOLPE
The villa is set in a charming little neighbourhood, surrounded by plants, trees, and brick walls, creating a private oasis with minimal visibility. Both sides of the house, including the courtyard and pool area, offer fantastic views. On clear days, you can see all the way to the Alps, including Monte Viso, with its iconic peak made famous by Paramount Pictures, visible directly in the centre of the horizon from every room in the house.
Sorella della Volpe consists of a large main house and a small converted tool house, which we call "Sorellina" (the little sister pool house). The property is ideal for families or friends who want to travel together and have their own private paradise as a base for exploring the area.
"The pool house" has a spacious lower room with a bathroom and a communal dining area that opens up to the pool area. Between the buildings is a cozy patio with a barbecue and seating areas, sheltered from both the wind and the sun. On the opposite side of "the pool house," you can relax in a sofa group and take in the view.
The villa is equipped with all the amenities you’ll need, including a combined washing machine/dryer, clothes steamer, ironing board, iron, and hairdryers. All bedrooms and the living room/kitchen area have air conditioning and heating. Wi-Fi is also available throughout the property.
The property is securely enclosed by fencing and accessed via an electric gate, leading to a video-surveilled parking area where you can safely park your cars before entering the main garden.

DESCRIPTION OF THE HOUSE
The main house is approximately 270 sqm. It has four large bedrooms that can accommodate 8-10 people. One of the rooms has an extra sofa bed that can be folded out, allowing it to function as a family room for four. Additionally, "the pool house" has 70 square meters spread over two levels, with a large bedroom on the second floor for two guests, available from the spring of 2025.
For your relaxation and recreation, there is a large private saltwater infinity pool (6x11 meters) with a surrounding sun deck equipped with plenty of sun beds for lazy pool days or afternoon gatherings. The deck area is finished in local stone, and around 200 sqm of patio space frames the property. There is ample room for outdoor play and relaxation, with several individual seating areas where you can unwind either in solitude or in smaller groups.
The villa is nestled adjacent to a small olive grove and vineyards, adding to the feeling of living "la bella vita" (the good life).
The area is rich in wildlife, with many types of birds, and you might even spot deer, rabbits, or foxes.
The view from the house and the pool is stunning. You can enjoy beautiful sunsets and starry skies from the house, garden, balcony, or pool.

FIRST FLOOR - KITCHEN, LIVING ROOM, 1 BEDROOM, AND 1 BATHROOM
The first floor features a large open-plan layout connecting the kitchen and living room. Guests can gather around the central kitchen island on bar stools while the chefs in the group cook. Alternatively, you can relax on the sofas in the living room and still be part of the social atmosphere without being directly involved in the cooking.
A large locally crafted oak dining table comfortably seats 10 to 12 guests, providing a perfect setting for meals, games, and enjoying views of the garden.
The first-floor bathroom includes a walk-in shower, a combined washing machine/tumble dryer, and a bidet.
There is also a large bedroom on the first floor with a double bed, offering good views and easy access to the courtyard.

KITCHEN
The modern German-designed kitchen includes an induction cooktop, an integrated dishwasher, a built-in oven, and a fridge/freezer. There is a Nespresso coffee machine for a quick cup of coffee, as well as a traditional Moka espresso kettle. An extra fridge is available for guests who need more space for drinks. The kitchen is well-equipped with plenty of counter space, drawers, cupboards, and all necessary kitchen equipment.

SECOND FLOOR - 3 BEDROOMS AND 2 BATHROOMS
Bedroom 1 has a queen-sized canopy bed plus an extra sofa bed, which can be pulled out into a comfortable second queen-sized bed. This room can function as a family room for four.
Bedroom 2 has a queen bed and access to a separate balcony that overlooks the garden and pool.
Bedrooms 1 and 2 share a bathroom with a walk-in shower.
Bedroom 3 is the master bedroom, featuring a queen-sized canopy bed. This large room is a converted hayloft, distinguished by tall sloping ceilings. It has a spacious en-suite bathroom with panoramic views, a luxurious free-standing bathtub, and a walk-in shower. Floor-to-ceiling windows provide fantastic views from both the room and the bathroom.

"THE POOL HOUSE"
2nd Floor (Spring 2025): This room, approximately 35 square meters, will be accessible via an external staircase on the side of the house. It is a large room with floor-to-ceiling windows offering a panoramic view, a double bed, and a small sitting area. This space is ideal for those who want to stay a little more secluded or for teenagers who want to hang out independently.
1st Floor: The entire first floor can be opened with large metal and glass doors, seamlessly connecting it to the outdoor area. Originally an old workshop/tool shed/loft, this area preserves some rustic charm with its use of brick, glass, and metal. It has a separate kitchen area with cupboard space, a small fridge, and a sink.
There is also an additional bathroom with a shower, easily accessible from the pool area.
A large metal dining table, suitable for 12/14 people, is set under beautiful glass lamps, creating the perfect ambiance for late-night dinners and conversations with good company.

CASA DELLA VOLPE: PLANNING A FAMILY REUNION?
Sorella della Volpe is our second house in this lovely area. We first purchased a wine farm, a cascina called "Casa della Volpe," in 2018. Casa della Volpe is also available to rent when we are not there ourselves. The house accommodates 8 guests, and both houses face each other from opposite sides of the valley. It is about a 20-minute walk between the houses and about a 3-minute drive. Both locations have plenty of parking spaces. If you rent both places, you can host a group of up to 20-22 guests.

NEIGHBOURHOOD (WALKING/BIKING DISTANCE)
The village of Costigliole d’Asti, a castle town 2.6 km from the house, offers local supermarkets, restaurants, wine bars, cafes, bakeries, and small shops. Although one of the best views of the area can be found from the garden, it is by no means the only stunning view.
We encourage you to explore the surrounding area on charming roads or paths, which are very popular with bicycle tourists. There is a relaxing lookout point a 5-minute walk from the house on the other side of the vineyard, where you can sit on a wooden bench and marvel at the surrounding beauty. On the slope beneath the pool, there is a small olive orchard, in addition to the pomegranate trees in the garden. Costigliole is known for its famous wines, such as Barbera, Moscato, Dolcetto, Cortese, and Chardonnay. There are a few wineries within walking distance from the house, and many more are only a short drive away. You could explore for years and still not run out of castles, restaurants, wineries, or other treasures Piemonte has to offer.
Weekly markets in Costigliole d’Asti, Castagnole delle Lanze, and neighbouring villages offer locally grown produce and other food items for you to enjoy. Wine festivals and truffle festivals are also common.
